Experience We Look For

In addition to the specific requirements of the open positions, we look for exceptional people at all career stages (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and senior scientists). We also accept outstanding undergraduate students to work in the lab.

We are primarily interested in people with backgrounds in the following fields:

  • engineering (e.g. biomedical, chemical engineering, nano engineering),
  • biology (particularly immunology),
  • chemistry

Overall, we value motivation and training quality more than prior experience in any particular field.

About Our Lab

Dr. Bryan Smith’s T-NIE Lab is affiliated with the Biomedical Engineering Department (BME) and the Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) at Michigan State University. The BME department in IQ offers a unique environment for performing state-of-the-art research with many top scientists in the field, using advanced facilities. Dr. Smith’s lab recently transitioned from Stanford University School of Medicine and is now operational at MSU. Dr. Smith’s lab transitioned from Stanford University School of Medicine.

We are using breakthrough nanoengineering, immunology, and imaging technologies to develop new strategies to therapeutically manipulate and visualize the immune system in living subjects. We develop novel nano-immunoimaging and nano-immunotherapy platforms to treat and diagnose various diseases including cancer, atherosclerosis, and neurodegeneration.

The following publications provide several examples of our work in top journals:

About Our Department
